Platja de Castelldefels

A good and cheap destination for those hungry for sun is Castelldefels. Located at the Costa del Garraf – where you also can find Sitges or Garraf itself – it offers a wide and long beach with enough space for everybody. Although the town has become quite touristic with all the hotels and restaurants at the beach promenade, it is still very relaxing compared to the city beaches in Barcelona.

The coast here is shallow and the water (depending on wind direction) usually clean. Basically the beach starts already right after the airport of Barcelona and streches approx. 20km along the coast. It is a 3 minute walk from the train station Platja de Castelldefels. Opposite the station you will find a small supermarket. At the beach heading direction north (Barcelona) you find the typical tourism madness with hotels, restaurants and shops for souvenirs.

Especially in low season the beach is so empty, that you will hear nothing else but the sound of the waves. A real luxury to be reached just by a 15 minute train ride from hectic Barcelona.

Arrive:
Train direction “Vilanova i la Geltrú” from stations Estación Franca, Passeig de Grácia and Estación de Sants (Renfe Rodalies R2 Sud).

Get out in “Platja de Castelldefels” not “Castelldefels”!
